The FNEC Technology sector was established to assist First Nations communities to engage and promote ICT Integration in the classroom and to improve access to Internet connectivity services in schools. The objectives of this sector are to support community implementation of ICT's and to assist and coordinate relative technology support programs that support this mission.

Strategic Objectives

• To provide user and technical support and consultation for the FNEC Videoconference program that has deployed 22 site installations in member communities.

• Continue to deliver and manage the Indian and Northern Affaires Canada First Nations SchoolNet program that offers ICT support initiatives to Band managed schools (communities) across the Quebec region. (excluding Cree and Inuit Nations).

• Offer help desk services to First Nation schools (communities) needing technical assistance and or consultation support in the domain of ICT.

• To advocate the issues and needs in technology on behalf of our member communities that identify the challenges at the local and regional levels.

• To promote the technology achievements across all FNEC member communities so that communities and First Nations regional agencies and other stake holders that will enable local investment.

MonÉcole-mySchool.com Initiated by the FNEC technology sector, the mySchool on the Web project was designed to offer First Nations schools the ability to develop Internet content and to promote their community and school life through the Internet. The objective of the mySchool project was to simplify school Internet publishing activities by introducing an easy-to-use Web publishing process using a combination of pre-defined templates or Web sites and software tools like Macromedia Contribute. go to www.monecole-myschool.com
