Educational Services

The Educational Services Department coordinates development, information, and training activities for FNEC-member communities with or without schools. The quality of instruction given in these communities is constantly being improved through school administration and educational support services delivered on demand.


School Administration

Education administrators in communities receive support for organizing services and managing education projects, for example:

- developing a policy framework in special education

- liaising with government partners

- developing, setting up and monitoring success plans

- administering FNEC-managed education programs

- managing school records and providing training on the CANO student information system

- establishing and maintaining a network of school administrators

- coordinating distance education services

Educational Support

The implementation of education projects and teaching approaches meeting the needs of communities is supported by the following targeted service offering:

- developing literacy and numeracy skills

- creating a network of special education professionals to support students with special needs

- providing educational and professional information, for example, by leading topical workshops for students

- integrating technology in education, for example, by giving training on using the interactive whiteboard in schools

- organizing networking activities for education staff

- sharing and disseminating best practices in education

- establishing and guiding professional learning communities

- setting up meetings and training workshops for school teams, for example on the Building Better Schools Together approach

- developing and distributing teaching material such as the Youth Literature Inventory

- making group purchasing arrangements for teaching material (books, software, etc.) and training programs to promote economies of scale

- providing training and support on the use of educational material (Banque d'instruments de mesure (BIM), Repères, Career Cruising, the Educational Video Collection, Learn Quebec, etc.)
